Take on a new challenge with
Higher than the Mountains!

What is the Challenge?
The Higher than the Mountains Challenge is a call for all youth to raise $100 in donations over the next few months. If 250 young people can meet our challenge, that's $25,000 raised, or half the cost of the entire project! The Challenge was originally created as a way for Metigoshe campers to help us meet our goal, but we encourage any and all youth to join in.

Cool! How do I start?
Get creative! Start a lemonade stand or host a bake sale. Rent yourself out as a "slave for a day" doing odd jobs for a neighbor. Say "no thanks" to restaurants or movie theaters for a few weeks, and donate the money you'll save by staying in. Dig through your family's couch cushions...or come up with something completely new and different! For inspiration on how to get started, check out the ways other people have already met our challenge:

Jasmine Hall and Sarah Gessner sold concessions at the Russell Centennial. Everyone was grateful for the water to cool off on that hot day--and happy to see the money going to such a great cause!

Ericka Larson sent out a letter to her friends and family asking them each to donate $5 or $10. The money added up, and she had met the challenge in no time.

Steph Olson gave $100 of her own money, ask her friends for donations--which added up to $100--and raised $200 through the help of her family. In just a short time, Steph raised $400 for the project!

Josh McGowan raised his money by working at the Willow Creek Movie Theatre.

Bethany Johnson sold Higher than the Mountains bracelets to people at her school and church. She also had a Higher than the Mountains Sunday at Peace Lutheran Church in Burlington where members of the congregation gave to a free-will offering.
